Entertainment Manager (North-West, Rustenburg) Fixed Term Contract

ANEW Resort Hunters Rest is looking for an The Entertainment Manager to plan, coordinate and manage the resort's entertainment and recreational activities to create memorable, engaging and enjoyable experiences for guests of all ages.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a Fixed Term Contract for 3 months.
Key Responsibilities
Entertainment & Guest Experience
· Develop and maintain a comprehensive daily, weekly and seasonal entertainment programme.
· Plan entertainment suitable for different guest demographics, including families, children, couples and groups.
· Organise live music, DJs, shows, performances, themed evenings and special events.
· Coordinate children's activities, games, competitions, arts and crafts and recreational programmes.
· Introduce new and innovative entertainment concepts to enhance the guest experience.
· Ensure entertainment activities are engaging, professional and aligned with the resort's standards.
· Monitor guest participation and feedback and make improvements where necessary.
· Actively engage with guests and create a welcoming, energetic and positive atmosphere.
· Act as a master of ceremonies (MC) and facilitator by hosting games, activities and other guest engagements.
This is a floor role, not a desk role. The Entertainment Manager is visible, on shift when guests are on property, and works weekends, public holidays and school holidays as standard.
Events & Activities
· Coordinate resort events, theme nights, holiday programmes and special occasions.
· Assist with the planning and execution of weddings, conferences, functions and other resort events where entertainment is required. m
· Develop event concepts, programmes and schedules.
· Coordinate sound, lighting, staging, décor and other entertainment requirements.
· Conduct pre-event briefings and ensure all entertainment arrangements are confirmed.
· Ensure activities and events start and finish according to schedule.
Publish the programme at least 30 days in advance to Front Office, Reservations, Sales and Marketing for pre-arrival communication and social media.
Maintain a wet-weather alternative for every outdoor activity on the calendar.
Run the kids’ club and holiday programme: age-appropriate activity groupings, daily themes, craft and games stock, and safe supervision ratios.
Performer & Supplier Management
· Source and coordinate suitable entertainers, musicians, DJs, performers and external activity providers.
· Negotiate performance requirements and coordinate bookings within approved budgets.
· Maintain a database of suitable entertainment suppliers and performers.
· Ensure external performers comply with resort policies and contractual requirements.
· Monitor the quality and professionalism of external entertainment providers.
· Ensure all required equipment and technical requirements are arranged before performances.
Budget & Cost Control
· Prepare and manage the entertainment budget.
· Monitor entertainment expenditure and ensure costs remain within approved budgets.
· Obtain quotations and follow procurement procedures.
· Identify opportunities to improve entertainment offerings without unnecessary cost increases.
· Monitor the profitability and commercial potential of entertainment activities where applicable.
Health, Safety & Compliance
· Ensure all entertainment activities comply with health and safety requirements.
· Conduct risk assessments for activities and events where required.
· Ensure appropriate safety measures are in place for children's activities, recreational activities and live entertainment.
· Ensure entertainment equipment is properly maintained and safely operated.
· Report incidents, accidents and hazards immediately.
· Ensure staff and external service providers comply with resort safety procedures.
Enforce sign-in / sign-out control of every child in the programme, with parent or guardian details recorded and a documented handover.
Ensure all staff working with children are screened and vetted in line with company policy and the Children’s Act, and that no child is left in the care of a single unaccompanied staff member.
Manage water-based activities with a qualified supervisor present and clear pool rules displayed and enforced.
Marketing & Promotion
· Work closely with the Sales and Marketing team to promote resort entertainment programmes.
· Ensure daily and weekly entertainment schedules are communicated to guests.
· Assist with promotional material for events and activities.
· Utilise appropriate digital platforms and resort communication channels to increase participation.
· Develop creative campaigns to promote special events and seasonal entertainment.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
· Work closely with Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Sales and Marketing to coordinate entertainment activities.
· Communicate entertainment schedules to relevant departments in advance.
· Coordinate with Food & Beverage for themed evenings, outdoor events and special functions.
· Liaise with Maintenance regarding venues, lighting, sound, equipment and setup requirements.
· Ensure all departments are aware of major entertainment events and expected guest requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Must have a Matric

- Proven track record
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar environment in a Management position
